Vote Early for BarackIn Virginia you can vote early for Barack by voting absentee in person. By voting early, you will ensure that your voice for Barack has been heard. You’ll also help prevent possible long lines on Election Day!Note: The deadline to apply for an Absentee Ballot to be mailed to the voter has passed. (Applications had to be in the Voter Registration office by 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday October 28, 2008.) The last day for in-person absentee voting in your local Registrar's Office is Saturday November 1, 2008. All local Registrars' offices will be open a minimum of 8 hours on Saturday, November 1 for in-person absentee voting (exact times will vary). There are many reasons you may be eligible to vote absentee, including long work hours, being away for college or work, or being an active member of the armed forces. 1. Confirm your registrationClick here to check your registration status. If there is any problem with your registration, contact your local Virginia Campaign for Change field office for help.
2. Apply to vote absenteeTo vote absentee in person: find your local registrar by clicking here. Registrars are generally open during regular office hours but be sure to check with the Virginia State Board of Elections as many registrars will be open during weekends in the final weeks before the election. The deadline for applying and casting your ballot in-person at your local voter registration office is the Saturday before the election. 3. Vote!If you are voting absentee in person bring your voter registration card with you when you go to your local registrar to vote. If you don't have your voter registration card though, don't worry - just bring a picture ID and a bank statement, bill or other other government document showing your name and current address (a complete list of accepted IDs is below). Accepted IDs for Voting Absentee:Although not everybody needs ID to vote, it is best to play it safe and bring at least one form of valid ID.Valid ID include:

Absentee Voting in EmergenciesIf you miss voting absentee before the deadlines, but find yourself in an emergency situation you may still be eligible to vote absentee. There are a few, very limited, situations in which a voter can vote an “emergency” absentee ballot in his/her local registrar’s office up until 2:00 on the day before the election. Certain hospitalized and incapacitated voters are also eligible to have someone pickup a ballot for them, deliver it to them in the hospital or at home, and return it to the registrar’s office by close of polls on election day.
